Role Purpose

You will lead the accounting function and HR processes, ensuring robust financial control, compliance, and people management. This is a hands-on role, working closely with the MD and Operations Director to drive financial health and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Financial Control

  • Raise invoices and purchase orders
  • Cash flow forecasting and daily expenditure tracking
  • Calculate Work in Progress (WIP)
  • Prepare monthly P&L cost reports, accruals, prepayments
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Build weekly payment runs
  • Manage bank reconciliations and VAT returns

Debt Management

  • Monitor and report on areas of overspending
  • Maintain and chase debtor lists as required

Payroll

  • Collate timesheets and process payroll (weekly/monthly via Sage)
  • Manage expenses, P60/P11D, P45, CIS returns and verifications
  • Verify subcontractors with HMRC

HR Management

  • Oversee all HR responsibilities, supported by Easy HR consultants
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, holiday, and absence management
  • Address employment issues and complaints

General Duties

  • Improve and develop accounts systems
  • Set and manage budgets
  • Advise Directors on tax minimisation
  • Manage accounts assistant/team
  • Liaise with ARKK Alliance accountants
  • Main contact for annual audit
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Address financial queries and undertake agreed duties

IT & Systems

  • Daily system backups
  • Set up new supplier/subcontractor accounts
  • Scan invoices for payment verification

Meetings

  • Attend Directors’ meetings and IMS Management reviews

Skills & Experience

  • Strong financial reporting and accounting experience (preferably in construction or compliance-led sectors)
  • Payroll and HR administration expertise
  • Experience with Sage and CIS essential
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Team player committed to high standards and continuous improvement
